For the attention of:
Mr. Michael O’Leary – Please forward to Mr. Michael O’Leary. Thank you very much for your support!
Mr. Eddie Wilson
Mr. Dermot Rogers
Mr. Ray Conway, Mr. Declan Ryan
First I would like to express my concern. As a result of Ryanair deciding to shut down the direct lines of communication e.g. via the EFB (for pilots), it takes tremendous efforts to get in touch with Ryanair management and supervisors. It is a very doubtful action under the current circumstances. You are deliberately cutting vital lines of communications, so this why I am sending this letter.
I appreciate that the ERC representatives are very important to Ryanair and perform a fundamental role between the pilot group and employer.
It is because Ryanair place so much importance on the role I felt it appropriate that I offer my services.
I believe that I have the support of my colleagues and can play a positive role.
However, my endeavour to join the ERC has not been as straight forward as I would have expected.
I would like to draw your attention to the attached email that I sent on Sunday 1st October. This email was sent in response to a request from Giles Bentley for volunteers to be an ERC representative in STN.
Many colleagues and myself have responded and offered our services as per your request. I believe that these requests are being deliberately ignored which undermines any democratic process.
On the other hand, it is interesting to note your acute sense of urgency to get a ‘deal’ forced through at STN despite there having been no discussion and no debate.
We are aware that Giles Bentley and Marco Carrara continue to negotiate on behalf of all the STN pilots despite having no mandate. This is creating unnecessary resentment towards the current ERC Reps and a collective call for alternative arrangements.
Additionally, in a recent email to one of the ERC volunteers, Giles Bentley seems suspiciously confident that this deal will be voted in, despite his full awareness of the huge wave of support for unity. This raises serious questions as to the voting mechanism which will be availed.
As you are aware, the right to collectively bargain is a universal human right.
Ryanair are denying STN based pilots this. The current ERC Reps apparently are not recallable nor are they accountable to the people that they are meant to represent.
This indicates a complete sham in process and purpose.
A new election would go some way to address this but even this simple demand is being ignored. In this situation it is not appropriate for Ryanair to continue discussions with ERC members that have not been elected, and do not enjoy the support of a majority of pilots in STN.
Under these circumstances, before any deal is allowed to be forced through, we would like to take this opportunity to call for a vote of no confidence in our current ERCs.
I look forward to receiving your response.
