MEETING WITH SEPLA
The total number of Ryanair pilots in Spain is 770. SEPLA have 250 pilots affiliated. 189 have affiliated over the last 3 weeks. This is a massive number on such a short period of time. There is not a minimum number but we need to have as many as possible. At European level ECA has 3000 affiliations from Ryanair pilots (75%).
Only 4 Spanish bases have contacted SEPLA. They are willing to speak with as many bases as possible. So please feel free to contact them.
There are pilots working for Ryanair (specially OCC) that are already SEPLA members but still haven’t communicated the union, letting them know that they are working for Ryanair. Please advise them to inform SEPLA so they can update the figures. Also if pilots are members of other unions, it is better to join the local union, in this case SEPLA.
Regarding the fee, it will be a reduced fee of 20 euros a month until we have a “Sección Sindical”.
The most important thing is that with these amount of pilots affiliated we can start a “Sección Sindical”. This should be done as quickly as possible so we can start putting pressure to the company. We would have to choose three pilots to become “delegados sindicales”. The maximum is seven pilots. The recommendation is five pilots. They can be from any base. In BCN we have one volunteer already. On we have a “Sección Sindical” we can start asking O’Leary to meet with us in order to obtain a CLA.
If he keeps refusing to meet with SEPLA representatives we could take Ryanair to court after the ECJ resolution. This would take a long time though.
Another important point is pilots-unite.com. It is a trustworthy and reliable source of information.
Also they informed us about all the benefits and discounts available of being a SEPLA member. Although this is not the matter, anyone can check their website for more information.
1.- Keep united and don’t sign any deal individually.
2.- Convince as many colleagues as possible to affiliate.
3.- Organize between bases the set up of “Sección Sindical”.
